Synopsis:

His remarkable goal achievements helped elevate his team Manchester United to Champions of Europe. His recognition as one of the world’s best players provided a life of celebrity and public adoration. But by his mid-twenties his relationship with Manchester United was over, a tearful end to a once dazzling career. The meteoric rise and very public downfall of the man once considered ‘the best there ever was’, football legend George Best, is told in the forthcoming feature film, “BEST”. The film is scheduled to open in cinemas across the UK on May 5, distributed by Optimum Releasing. Co-written by Mary McGuckian and John Lynch, and directed by McGuckian, BEST was developed with the cooperation of Best himself, the former player assuming the role as script consultant on the project. The film presents an honest account of an extraordinary career that was to end under a cloud of alcoholism, gambling and self abuse.
