After drifting into Zuni Wells, rodeo rider Lonnie Beale (Elvis Presley) is quickly hired by Vera Radford (Julie Adams), owner of an expensive dude ranch beauty spa where. After he’s assigned to a cottage along with handyman Stanley Potter (Jack Mullaney), Lonnie and his singing captivates the spa’s glamour girl patrons. When Pam Merrit (Joycelyn Lane), the shapely physical instructor, surprises a prowler in her hut, her screams bring Lonnie running. And after the prowler escapes, Deputy Sturdivant (Bill Williams) warns Pam against talking too much about her grandfather's hidden cache of gold. During a luau the following evening, Lonnie foils an attempt to abduct Pam. However, after the kidnappers escape, they head for the desert where they meet up with none other than lawman Sturdivant, who berates them for bungling the job. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, after showing Lonnie her grandfather's old, frayed and unreadable letter, Pam finds him kissing Vera. But when Pam refuses to listen to his explanations, Lonnie quits the spa to rejoin the rodeo circuit. Convinced by Stanley to return, Lonnie finds Pam at the Silverado, a deserted old hotel. When a sudden storm strands them amidst its eerie collection of wax figures of old Western characters, a man in a monster mask who bursts into Pam's room demanding the letter forces Lonnie into action. When unmasked, the attacker turns out to be the ranch’s chef, Adolph (John Dennis). And as two more “wax figures” suddenly come to life, Lonnie is forced into another fight that sends the attackers flying into the street. After stumbling upon the hidden gold, Lonnie, Pam and Stanley come face to face with the armed, dangerous and determined Stirdivant. While Pam knocks the deputy out with a pick handle, his henchmen -- Jerry and Henry (Louis Elias) are rounded up. Falling into each other's arms, Lonnie and Pam are married at the ranch. And as they drive off with Lonnie singing to his new bride, both are oblivious to the fact that Stanley, trapped in a washtub he’s tied to their car, is being dragged along on the honeymoon, too.
