THE SIEGE OF PINCHGUT is an action-packed thriller based on a true story set in Sydney. Matt Kirk (Aldo Ray, Sweet Savage, Terror on Alcatraz) is a prisoner on his way to serve a long sentence who escapes with his younger brother (Neil McCallum) and two henchmen in a stolen ambulance. They take refuge on the small island of Pinchgut in Sydney Harbour and make hostages of the inhabitants – the caretaker, his wife and daughter. Kirk demands assurance from the police that he will be granted a retrial so that he can establish his innocence. As the police begin to close in, he threatens to detonate an ammunition ship in the harbour by fi ring at it with an ancient naval gun situated on the island. Directed by Harry Watt (Nine Men, Where No Vultures Fly), THE SIEGE OF PINCHGUT acts as a landmark in British fi lm history as it was the last fi lm ever produced by Ealing Studios.
