Played by warrior natives of the Masai Mara in South Kenya and inspired by Masai mythology, the film is a rare glimpse into the heart of a culture isolated from the rest of the world. Following the death of their Chief, a village is stricken by a drought which threatens the lives of its people and their livestock. The village elders dispatch a group of ten adolescents to hunt down a mythincal lion in orer to offer its man up as a sacrifice to the Red God. As the young men travel across the plains, they must face treachery, fear and rivalry in order to become true rain warriors.
