Brian Keenan went to Beirut in 1986 for a break from his native Belfast. Shortly after arriving he was kidnapped by fundamentalist Islamic terrorists and held against his will for almost five years. During his solitary confinement, the borders between fantasy and reality began to blur. From An Evil Cradling details his mind’s spiral into madness and his ultimate triumph over it. The film was developed by Dublin based animation team Kavaleer Productions. As an adaptation of the published poetry of Brian Keenan, based on his experiences as a hostage in Kuwait from 1986 - 1991. Producers Andrew Kavanagh and Keith Foren were inspired by the work to create an amazingly moving piece of animation that visualised Brian’s prose.
